Traditional wagon painting course.

Uncategorized

I recently went on a fabulous 3 day traditional wagon painting course. Working with traditional scroll work seen on many Gypsy wagons. Taught by the wonderfully talented Sarah Harvey Who’s excellent teaching skills helped us along the way. First of all we learnt the use of the brush’s often used in this traditional skill set on glossy paper. Naturel hair chisel brushes, as well as lining in brushes, learning how to hold them and move them in particular ways to aid getting nice, flic’s, corners and points. It’s takes a steady hand to begin with!

We then took what we had learnt and transferred these skills into designing a piece for what we had brought in with us, I had brought in an old rusty saw that I had prepped in ready for the day. Creating lovely scroll work to fit the blade, once the design was down, I then set to work on painting it all up. I went maximalist in order to learn the most I possibly could from this fantastic 3 day course. Do get in touch with Sarah if your interested in learning as I believe she also does sign writing and roses and castles courses as well.
