One of my student created they’re favourite beach view in Hawaii, where they used to live.
Spent some time this week working on part of my Stained glass fire screen, inspired by Alphonce Mucha. I’ve made the Lillie flowers that sit at the bottom of the screen. They have been painted, siverstained and copperfoiled.
Yesterday’s job was to refit this beautiful 1920’s stained glass window. Having had a full restoration as lots of the solder joins had pulled apart and the whole window was seriously flexing in the door frame. Some really georgous old glass in it, and is one of many in the area in Exmouth, Devon.
So proud to of had a mention as a guild member, and Master Craftswoman on their site with a fab write up about my work and recent commission for a Wesleyan Chapel.
Searching for a glass rondel like this one for an upcoming restoration… can any one help? If not, I will be making a kiln cast rondel from a complete one. Always a good day when your painting on glass and firing it in the kiln. First layer of tracing lines. Some with a dipping pen and oil mix, some with a brush and vinegar mix.
Oh my god!!! I am LOVE with this!! This beautiful hand rolled glass, (that I don’t even remember what it is now!) I have held onto it for about 15 years waiting for the right project to come along!! Think ive found it 😁 I was going to paint the folds onto this skirt but decided to let the glass do the talking. I’ve used it for my new Logo also the other day.
Cut the glass for my new fire screen fold out parts. This is going to be an Alphonce Mucha inspired, Art Nouveau is such a stunning style that I’m simy in love with! The shapes, the colours, the composition, the naturel forms. Delicious!! Th
These 2 side panels will have painted lily’s and then leaded using a fine 3mm lead. That gives me 1/2 mm forgiveness on my glass tolerances! No room for shoddy cutting there.
Started cutting glass for my next stained glass fire screen. Art Nouveau, Alphonce Mucha inspired screen with detailed painting on glass, etching and silver stain. Fine lead work, incorporationg copper foiled inclusions. Using elegant shapes and hand crafted metal work to create its own autonomous, 3 panel frame. With the most amazing @samanthaemanuel23 as my talented and beautiful muse. What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?
I wish to build myself a new studio this summer, my business is growing, I’m getting some amazing projects coming through that really excite me and make me want to push myself, explore more into the world of glass craft and artistic endeavor. Bigger projects in the pipeline also means I need a bigger space and more toys! So a new, bigger and better equipped studio is on the cards, hoping to have it built and up and running by the end of the Summer. New toys on the list include another Kiln for fusing, slumping and casting. A bigger compressor for sand blasting as my old one has seen better days and been with me since the beginning pretty much, some 18 years!!
The other brilliant thing that a bigger studio will allow, is for my teaching glass courses to get a little bigger. These have been going really well, I LOVE teaching and I’ve been getting some amazing feedback from my students about the different courses I’m running and I would like to expand the class size’s a little. I presently teach up to 3 people on a course and would like to expand that to 5 or 6 people. This still allows for lots of one to one attention throughout, but creates a bigger, better buzz in these practical , hands on classes. that are often described as Art Therapy by my students!
